Don’t skip your beta/proof-readers!

Working my way through the loose-ends process of preparing the SEDP book for publication. For any other writers out there, don’t–I repeat, *do not*–skip the final steps of recruiting beta/proof-readers for your manuscript! Having more eyes on your work is crucial to polishing it for release. This is beyond true. It is fundamental to the success of your work.

Just sayin’! ðŸ™‚

“Seven Essential Daily Prayers” book Coming *soon!*

Final cover design for "Seven Essential Daily Prayers" book.
The Final Cover Design for SEDP!

This is an exciting day! It has been a long time coming! Yesterday I ordered three proof copies of SEDP from Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), the self-publishing service from Amazon.com. The SEDP book has been over two years in development. I am beyond ecstatic that it will be available in just a few more weeks!

Here is the list of the “Seven Essential Daily Prayers:”

  1. Purity in My Mind
  2. Righteousness in My Heart
  3. Integrity in My Life
  4. Joy in My Spirit
  5. Strength for My Body
  6. Wisdom for My Counsel
  7. To be a Godly Influence in the World

The book is filled with personal stories, historical illustrations, and biblical insights. And, it is only about 125 pages! The paperback edition is 8″x5″ — perfect for carrying with you when you travel, commute, place in a purse or backpack. It will also be a great discussion starter for Bible study groups and prayer meetings. I will be developing study guides for the project soon with several different types of groups in mind, e.g. men’s prayer breakfast, women’s Bible study, church mid-week service, or just for individual devotions.

Stay tuned. I’ll let you know when the whole project is a “go!”

Seven Essential Daily Prayers (SEDP) project

01/29/2019. Update. Finished first draft of Chapter 1 today. Progress. Good feeling.

Here’s a preliminary idea for the cover of a paperback book edition of the Seven Essential Daily Prayers. It shows front, back, and spine. And, at this point I have no idea why the spine content is out of alignment. Just wondering what y’all think of this. Comments welcome! Email me at loren@lorenfentonauthor.com.

Mock-up for my current writing project. Excited to see this taking shape!

Progress report: As of today I’ve made a pretty good beginning writing the content. I’ve finished the Introduction, and I’m about 1/3 into the text of Chapter 1, “Purity for My Mind.”

I’m working on a self-determined, self-imposed deadline. Feeling good about this journey!

Watch for more updates as the project moves toward publication!

A New Subscription Form I Actually Like

Look to the right of your screen —————->

Over there you should see a form asking for your name and email. This is the simplest and easiest form I’ve found for my blog. I’d love to have you subscribe! If you do, each time I publish a new post you will get a note in your inbox with a link, so you can read it at your convenience. Of course, you can unsubscribe at any time. Nevertheless, I covet the privilege of sharing stuff about my writing activities with you. And, if you happen to enjoy something, it would really please me if you shared it with your friends! TIA!!

Great Progress this Week on Whimsi!

We’re Getting Closer!

Well, it has been a pretty challenging few days this week, but we are getting a LOT closer to publishing the paperback edition of Whimsi and the Big Election! I spent two very long days designing and finishing the cover. In the end, I had to have Ruth help me finish up. She is much more experienced than I with the graphics app we use, which – if anyone is interested – is the Corel Paintshop Pro 2018.

I wanted to post a picture of the final cover here, but right now my webhost gives me a message that it is too large. So, I opted for the one you see at the left. However, if you would like to see what Whimis’s cover will look like when it is eventually published, you can go over to Whimsi’s Facebook page. Just click HERE.

I am SO looking forward to getting this project done! Even though I wrote the story, I still truly enjoy it! Plus, I believe Whimsi’s story has some wonderful – even vital – lessons for young children (and for some of us older kids, too!).

Blessing to all. Keep walking with the King!

Updates on Some Writing Projects

Hello friends!

I hope you have had a great week, and are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. These weeks just seem to cycle past in ever-faster momentum!

We’ve been enjoying some absolutely *wonderful* October days here in SE Washington! Bright beautiful sunshine, light breezes, and daytime temps in the low-mid 60s. I was very thankful this last Monday to get our travel trailer RV all winterized. Ruth has been busy working her garden to get it ready for the long winter’s nap, too.

Writing Projects Updates

Seven Essential Daily Prayers, Lesson 4, “Joy in My Spirit”

I’ve been able to make some significant progress on Lesson 4 in the Seven Essential Daily Prayers course, “Joy in My Spirit.” In fact, I woke up this morning with several fresh thoughts I definitely will be including in the outline. I guess my subconscious mind was working on it even while I was asleep! I’m really anxious and excited to get it finished up and post it live online so I can share these insights. I’m neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I love it when I can pass along a “new” concept I’ve just discovered. (I put “new” in “”s because, as Solomon said, there really is nothing *new* under the sun. 🙂 )

BTW, if you haven’t yet enrolled in the course yet, here’s a link: https://goodlifenews-academy.thinkific.com. Enrollment is . . . easy and free!

Whimsi’s World: Whimsi & The Big Election

When my daughter Kimberly and I published Whimsi & The Big Election  as an Amazon Kindle eBook for kids last August, we also planned that we would prepare a paperback edition to be published/released in mid-October. With that goal in mind I started working on the manuscript for the paperback version soon after the first of the month, and was immediately confronted with a much more complicated task than I had previously imagined!

I somehow had the idea that Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) had a utility app that I could just engage by pushing a “go” button, and voila! there would be the new edition all ready to go. Woops! I quickly found out that button/app doesn’t exist! So, I have had to return to the story and prepare a new manuscript page-by-page in MS Word, which will be saved eventually as a .pdf file for the entire book, and then uploaded to KDP for release. Ah, well. Life is full of little challenges and inconveniences. It will get there in due time. As of this writing, I still have to upgrade/replace the digital illustrations so they will look right in the final product. The positive side of all this is that I’ll also be able to go through and upgrade the eBook version illustrations as well. That will result in a better product on that side, too.

I’m anticipating that next week I’ll be able to get these two projects updated and ready to go. Keep your eyes open for the announcements!

Until next time,

Loren
